Ie toga

A big thank you to Misiluni and his aiga. They have gifted Weka Hub lots of beautiful ie toga. We have been looking for a special way to use them in our Hub. We think this one looks fantastic in the Brentwood Block foyer and we have already have had lots of wonderful comments about how beautiful this one is!

Hub Logo

We revealed our Weka Hub Logo today. It is hanging proudly in the school hall. As part of a term one learning inquiry, Weka Hub students were challenged to create a logo for the hub. We had lots of discussions about what we needed in our hub logo, and we think the one Faith designed with her whanau fits us perfectly.

Kei te mihi atu hoki ki a Janine mo te awhingatanga!

Hanging out with Ferguson Intermediate

Room 17 & 18 were excited to have Ferguson Intermediate students join them in class this week. They came to read with us and gather some information for their writing projects. They are creating picture books aimed at our year group. We told them what we were interested in and gave them feedback on the writing they had already prepared. We can't wait to see their published work when they visit next time.

Student vs. Staff

Congratulations to the staff who took out today's basketball game 😃

The students made the staff work really hard for their win.

Weka Hub were very excited to watch Miss Wickens play along side the other teachers. Manea was also very proud to watch her Dad, Leva, play referee to the teams.

What fabulous lunch time entertainment. We can't wait for the upcoming netball game!

Koru Assembly

Today at assembly, Room 17 shared the data from our classroom surveys. We used bar graphs to share our information. Manea, Regan and Amber introduced us, and shared some of our learning with the Koru Syndicate.

Alex, James and Bella talked about what their bar graphs showed. They used lots of great math language.
Clockwise from top left: Jaziah celebrating with Usa. Lawrence's Pokemon Data.
Alex and Isobel sharing their learning. Bella's Bar Graph.
We were also pretty pleased, because Weka Hub were awarded Usa for being a respectful audience.
Kei runga noa atu!

Weka Hub Morning Meeting

Everyday, Weka Hub comes together for a morning meeting. We rotate around the different spaces in Weka Hub - Rooms 16, 17 and 18. This week we are meeting in Room 18 straight after the morning roll for 15 minutes.

This is a special time where we start our day off in a positive way with a karakia and waiata. This week we have been singing 'Purerehua'. We also share the daily notices at morning meeting and use it as a time for celebration.

Sometimes we celebrate learning or achievements but today we celebrated Sophie-Marie's 7th birthday!

We all really love coming together in the morning to set ourselves up for a great day of thinking and learning!
